The town can get very crowded during the Medieval Fair (July), the International Chocolate Festival (late April-early May), and the Christmas Market (December). The old town is entirely cobblestones and sloped streets — challenging for wheelchairs and not easy for those with walking difficulties. The castle walls have no handrails and should be avoided if balance is a concern. We can get you to the main square and a flat-access restaurant, but be realistic about what you'll see on foot.

If your priority is medieval atmosphere and a short drive, yes. If you want dramatic landscapes (Sintra), famous palaces (also Sintra), or coastal scenery (Cascais, Nazaré), those might edge it out. Óbidos's charm is quiet and specific — a perfectly preserved small-town snapshot of old Portugal.
